- Gp Capt Tom Sawyer began the 2nd World War with over 1,000 hours of Service flying in his log book and this exciting account records his 5112 years with RAF Bomber Command. He flew Whitleys with 1 0 Squadron on early bombing raids over Germany, Halifaxes with 76 Squadron and Whitleys again when in command of 78 Squadron. He then went on to command 51 Halifax Squadron and then commanded at Burn, Driffield and Lissett making him one of the RAF's most experienced 2nd World War station commanders.
