Abstract:
- Based on computer modelling of the crash, the possibility that a broken elevator cable may have been responsible for the crash of the rigid airship R.101 near Beauvais in France in the early hours of October 5 1930 is examined. The reasons why the Court of Inquiry rejected this theory, believing that the cable broke after the crash, are also discussed.
