Abstract:
- Modern transport category aircraft are inherently safer by design and construction compared to their ancestors. This has been achieved by a continuous R & D effort undertaken by the industry, largely on a voluntary basis, as well as significant upgrades in formal rulemaking, primarily by FAA and adopted and supported by others, mainly the JAR-group. This lecture aims to illustrate a few of these efforts in focussing on improvements achieved in crash dynamic behaviour of aircraft seats and corresponding cabin layout principles.
